Growing Your Non-Profit,
Even in an Economic Downturn

With the current economic downturn, the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, and a hyper-competitive market of numerous non-profits, how do you continue to grow your organization?

This question will be explored in a half-day conference presented by the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association's Non-Profit Special Interest Group.

Rick Lester, President of Target Resource Group, a leading marketing firm for non-profit performing arts groups, has helped arts and culture organizations navigate cyclical declines for three decades.

Learn what TRG's study of patron behavior teaches about the history, impact and duration of economic downturns and the best techniques to transcend the economy's negative effects.

Denise Patrick, VP of Marketing and Creative Services for Pierpont Communications, Inc. will explore how non-profits can deal with risk, stay focused on priorities and navigate a new strategy.

Denise will look at how to position your organization for continued growth while employing low-cost marketing efforts.

Phil Miller, President of DCM Telemarketing, will present data to illustrate trends in non-profit telemarketing and telefunding over the last 5 years, and share recent findings regarding the effect of the slowing economy.

Attendees will:

  • Walk away with concepts and strategies to put to use at their own non-profit organizations
  • Have the chance to share and learn from fellow non-profit professionals
  • Participate in a qualitative research project about the effect of the economy
(a white paper to be later published by Pierpont Communications)
